Getting to know a bit more about Vinnie's family, or lack there of, and setting up some hang out time with good ol Fridge. Fridge's current 'body theme' will make more sense next week, though props to anyone who can guess it now! The movie reference is a bit more obvious (and posted in the Hommages page for anyone who cares.)
Look for the fanart gallery to be up soon as well.

I've been eyeing a pair of headphones that look very similar X3

Poor Vin Vin. I feel for ya, man.

Its nice to know they don't HAVE to live with all the constant worrying of DLC, just choosing to :p.

No, they certainly aren't forced to, but living outside of the city is risky and difficult. If anything goes wrong there is nobody to help you.

Oh poor Vin, just has to learn to say no, from time to time.

jaja love the sense of humor Papa Obari and then Galena "vinnie isn't as Vulgar as you" and then what she says XD. mmm i would like to know what is exactly an autonom?
Danny Zephronic 20th Oct 2013, 10:53 AM edit delete reply
From what I can gather, an Autonom is someone who decides to leave the city and live in the wastelands around it
It was mentioned earlier that since the meteor they were considered uninhabitable, so it's probably still a tricky place to live
It seems it's basically a case of giving up some level of safety that the city provides to live without the restrictions that the city imposes
Notos 20th Oct 2013, 3:30 PM edit delete reply

Yeah DZ is exactly right, outside of the city is mostly baron living conditions, while possible to live there it certainly isn't easy, and outside of the city you have no emergency services, food, electricity, you're basically left to your own devices. I picture Autonoms as bands of nomads moving from one habitable place to another.

Is it going to be simlar to fallout in the sense that their are little towns in a nuclear fallout.

What I'm thinking is that the place outside the crater is actually inhabitable but the higher ups that run the city don't want anyone to know that. Because if everyone knows they can leave the city, there's no one left to control and leach money from with things like DLC.

Man, Logan's Run vibes from that idea

Haha, I love how Fridge basically muffles him with his giant arm. XD
Something I've been wondering about Vinnie: While I can't be 100% sure, it seems he regularly stammers/hesitates when he speaks. Does he have an impediment, or is he just a nervous guy?
Is he _still_ nervous around Galvin?
Notos 20th Oct 2013, 3:40 PM edit delete reply
Notos
No he's just nervous and shy. Aside from Galvin and Mackie I've tried to give each character their own manner of speaking, Vinnie is nervous stuttering.

Well, they were college roommates once upon a time, their wanting to hang out with each other is legitimate, Fridge just tends to interrupt and babble.

I can relate to what their saying about the Autonoms. I work for a corporation and I've often weighed the pros and cons of just dropping everything and being Amish, lol. Not because it sounds easier, but at least more fulfilling and less typical bs.

"No way... Like on paper?" Lol, I found that line amusing.

I'm starting to think that Galvin might not be gay or if he is he's definitely not out with it yet.
Notos 22nd Oct 2013, 1:17 PM edit delete reply
Notos
I think we've all had the thoughts along the lines of 'What if I just dropped it all and moved to some deserted island.' I'd never be able to really do it, I'm too 'connected', I go a few days without internet and start to go crazy.

The'on paper' line rings true speaking for myself, I probably haven't written or received a hand written letter (outside of greeting cards) for years, it's all digital now. I can't imagine what it will be like hundreds of years from now, pen on paper will be some quaint novelty.
TheSmilingPsycho 22nd Oct 2013, 1:52 PM edit delete reply
TheSmilingPsycho
Well, I also live in Amish territory so those thoughts are very close to reality for me, lol. But yea I couldn't go without internet either or not being able to draw my comic book, ha.

Hundreds of years from now we'll just telepathically download our thoughts.
FunAndGames 23rd Oct 2013, 8:19 PM edit delete reply
Hmm... If letters on paper are rare those days, I wonder how the postal service works? He obviously hasn't seen his parents in a while, so how do those letters find their way into the city?
Notos 25th Oct 2013, 3:26 PM edit delete reply
Notos
I imagine there is still a niche but functional postal system, there would have to be for those who live as Autonoms, I can see the City finding some way to skim profit off of it, charging a premium to send and receive letters.
